Dancing Pelvis for Yogis and Yoginis
A 3-hr workshop creating pelvic mobility and strength for a supported life!
The pelvis and the spine form the core structure of the body. From a movement perspective, when you move the pelvis, the physical and creative center of your body, the rest of your body (arms, legs and hands, the extremities) follows. Our memories (samskaras) are often stored in our pelvic area. So, if we want to move forward, both physically and spiritually, we want to give positive attention to our pelvis.
The workshop will consist of three parts:
- We will look at the anatomy of the pelvis- the bones, muscles and organs that make up the pelvis, and briefly the body parts that are connected to it (spine and legs).
- We will work on moving the pelvis, rocking back and forth, in figure of 8s, on the floor, as well as standing and moving through space.
- Back to our yoga mats, we will work with several yoga poses and sequences to see how we can apply our new knowledge to our yoga practice.
