It did not make a difference if I was teaching history to teenagers or dance to adults, was a waiter in a New York restaurant, the sanit captain for a catering company, the director of arts organizations, practiced T’ai Chi at an elder care center with its residents, or if I worked on improving people’s homes as a contractor, my inner purpose was always to improve their internal (and sometimes external) “home”, to create a better life for each of them. World renowned palmist Richard Unger confirmed that, when I came to him for a life purpose reading: “You have been a natural healer your entire life”. Since that moment I have moved forward and developed a personal and professional practice of healing, based on ancient indigenous and contemporary teachings. Coming from a place of light, compassion and the belief that all human beings have basic goodness by nature, I work with each individual to overcome their obstacles. I guide them through spiritual, emotional and physical challenges and have them discover multiple options, thus moving them closer towards fulfilling their human potential. Together we travel this amazing path called healing! HOW IT ALL BEGAN Born in The Netherlands, I traveled extensively, curious to learn from different cultures all over the world. After one of my trips, I was introduced to the work of Martha Graham and Pina Bausch; watching Graham’s “Temptations of the Moon” touched a deep (shamanic) cord in me, and it inspired me to pursue a career in dance, even at an age that some dancers start thinking about retirement. For four amazing years I danced with Tjitske Broersma, a close associate of Pina Bausch. Through my career and education in dance in both The Netherlands and USA, and even later as I taught dance, I learned the importance of the connection between body, mind and spirit, our connection with Mother Earth, and the interconnectedness of all beings. I saw and experienced firsthand how past and recent trauma affect the workings of the body, mind and spirit. A CONTINUED AWAKENING AND TRANSFORMATION As the years passed, I continued my physical, spiritual, and emotional explorations. My training as a yoga teacher added a new layer to my life, one that led me down the path of physical, spiritual and emotional healing and the use of ceremony as a shamanic practitioner; at first as a yogi, integrating aspects from Buddhist and Hindu traditions, soon thereafter by learning traditional shamanic practices of several Quechua and Kichwa tribes, and most currently in the Maya, Toltec and Mexhica tradition. I strongly believe these extraordinary experiences reconnected me with my lineage and the many past lives as a shaman in the Amazon basin. THE HEALER TODAY Today, I wholeheartedly embrace my life’s purpose as an intuitive energy healer and shamanic practitioner. I am connected to, and deeply grateful for, Spirit and those who have helped me grow: internationally recognized healer and teacher Sergio Magana, Reiki teacher Joanna Yuan Crespo, Irma Caceres, Ray Crist, “wise woman” Monique Lang, Shamama Susana Tapia de Leon, Qu'ero shaman Don Sebastian Pauccar Flores from Peru, Cherokee elders Barbara and Luiz Mehl Madrona, Virgil Mayor Apostol, Kitt Greenberg, Leigh Higgins and the late medical intuitive Elaine Woodall, as well as my phenomenal yoga teachers Ali Cramer and Sheri Celentano at the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in New York. I am inspired by the members of my tribe, a community of healers, who have become an encouraging source and key partner on my journey as human being and healer. They, together with my students and clients, help me center my heart and my life, so my soul can shine light on the souls of others. Currently I am a minister, have an active reiki and shamanic healing practice on the West Coast/Oakland, CA and East Coast/New York City and am available for sessions by ZOOM or phone from any place around our beautiful planet. And since March 1, 2020 I also provide home visits when and where possible. |
